Mackmyra Swedish Whiskey

At Mackmyra Bruk outside the town of Valbo, between Sandviken
and Gävle, lies Sweden's first malt whiskey distillery. Here,
visitors take a guided tour around the distillery and hear how the
idea began and developed into the first Swedish whiskey sold at
Systembolaget, the national liquor store. You can also sign up for
a tasting of the entire Mackmyra collection. Guided tours and
tasting must be booked in advance.

The Wij Gardens

At the old Wij Farm in Ockelbo, things are happening as we
speak. The Master Gardener Lars Krantz, founder of the Rosendals
Gardens in Stockholm, has been managing the Wij Gardens in Ockelbo
for the last few years. The garden is constantly growing and today
many visitors come from far and wide to visit: the little village
of Ockelbo, visit the Rose Garden, the Forest Garden, the Farmer's
Park, and the Gardening Shop.

The Parkbadet Aquatic Center

The Aquatic Center, Parkbadet, is located in
central Sandviken, only 5 km from Högbo.
Even the smallest children can have fun here
in the children's swimming area, while larger children can throw
themselves down the waterslide and play in the rapids.
For a more relaxed setting, take a dip in the hot tub or try the
relaxation area.

MS Emma and the Great Lake

Apart from Högbo Bruk, many consider Storsjön, Sandviken's
primary place for recreation and relaxation.
The old Steam Boat Ms Emma, travels around Storsjön many days of
the week. Many choose to rent the boat for private excursions for
company events, weddings, and other celebrations.
