Skiing

Cross-country skiing
Högbo Bruk is known for its well-groomed ski trails and great
snow conditions. Högbo Bruks Hotel is the first lodging
establishment to be appointed an official partner to the famous
cross-country ski race, the Vasaloppet. In the wintertime, the
trails are groomed every day and artificial snow supplies, whenever
nature cannot.
Lights make night skiing possible along the trails from 1 km to
7.5 km long, and a multitude of unlighted trails makes daytime
skiing possibilities limitless. A ski journey to Svartviksstugan
(Black-bay cabin), with a picnic, is the perfect family winter
excursion. The Gästrikleden, an intra-regional trail, passes
through the estate and connects to the local cross-country trails.
Skiing packages with lodging, technique, and waxing instruction are
available.
Högbo frozen tracks
Högbo Bruks artificially frozen trails opens again in November.
The 2 km refrigerated trail will move up Högbo Bruk's ski season by
a few months. A fee will be charged until there is enough natural
snow.
Downhill skiing at Kungsberget
Only 30 km from Högbo lies the alpine ski resort of Kungsberget,
with 17 trails and 10 lifts. Kungsberget has varied terrain with
something for the entire family. Everything from exciting
children's and beginner's trails to the challenging Dream Park,
mogul runs and skier-cross. Snowmaking equipment has doubled in
capacity over the last year, which means better snow conditions
throughout the entire winter.
